2015 NAAHBCU National Conference

On behalf of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts and Media Studies, I want to take this opportunity to thank the Executive Board for asking Fort Valley State University to be the host of our 2015 annual conference. The committee has decided to host the conference during the month of October 8-11, 2015. The exhibition theme for the conference is “Afro- futurism Rising: Black Art Across the Spectrum”. In addition, for the first time, we’ll have an exhibition for college students and as well as a members’ exhibition. Student members’ exhibition will take place Saturday evening at our art facility in downtown Fort Valley. Students must become members of the organization in order to participate. The professional members’ exhibition will take place on Friday evening at the picturesque new facility of the Tubman African American Museum. A picture of the museum is on the next page.

In addition, we are going to include several panel discussions and symposium for members based on the theme of 2015 conference. More information will be coming soon pertaining to hotel accommodations, deadline date to submit artworks to be juried and deadline date for artworks to arrive. Please be advised, Fort Valley State University and the Tubman Museum will not be able to insure artworks.
