Into the New Millennium: 

New Ideas, Abstractions, and Identity Politics

The NAAHBCU 17th Annual Juried Art Exhibition and National Conference will be held at Alabama State University, Montgomery, Alabama on October 13-14, 2017 in the Warren-Britt Gallery of the Tullibody Fine Arts Center. The Conference will be held in the Levi Watkins Learning Center/Library

Conference Featured Speaker

Mr. James Pate:  is a two-dimensional artist known for his idiosyncratic Techno-Cubism style, which fuses realism with spatial abstraction? He is referred to as the “Ice Cube of Contemporary Art.” His most notable work is  “Kin Killin' Kin”. Works of Mr. pate will also be featured and included in NAAHBCU’s 17th Annual Conference Exhibition

NAAHBCU Call for Submissions

NAAHBCU artists are invited to submit two related works for this special exhibition. Artist may submit: 

  • abstract,

  • representational,

  • non-representational,

  • cultural and/or

  • symbolic  


The organization asks all artist hold a current membership. Please contact if you have any questions.

Submission forms are due by July 31, 2017


All Dimensional work and installations are accepted, 2DM pieces should not exceed 48"x60". 3DM pieces should not exceed 60" in height, 30" width and 30 lbs. in weight. Work must arrive at Alabama State University by September 30th.

All works must remain in the exhibition until it ends, and are for sale unless the artists inform the art gallery to the contrary. The gallery will take a 20% commission on all sales.
